Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring Band Director to lead our school’s music program with enthusiasm and expertise. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive band curricula that incorporate music theory, performance techniques, and ensemble skills.
  • Plan and conduct engaging rehearsals, ensuring effective classroom management and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Prepare students for performances, competitions, and community events, emphasizing teamwork and discipline.
  • Mentor students individually and in groups to nurture their musical talents, confidence, and personal growth.
  • Collaborate with faculty on integrating music education with other academic subjects and extracurricular activities.
  • Select appropriate repertoire that challenges students while aligning with curriculum standards, performance goals and school’s mission.
  • Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instruction, track student progress, and facilitate creative projects.

Performance and Events

  • Organize and Direct Performances: Plan, organize, and lead performances, including concerts (fall, winter, spring), competitions, football games, parades, and community functions.
  • Manage Logistics: Arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for students participating in out-of-town events, while accompanying and supervising students on all trips.
  • Select and Arrange Music: Select and arrange appropriate musical repertoire that is suitable for the age and skill level of the students and showcases the talents of the band members.

Program Management and Administration

  • Financial Management: Manage the program’s budget, compile cost estimates, and coordinate fundraising activities to ensure cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
  • Inventory and Equipment: Maintain a current inventory of all school-owned instruments, equipment, uniforms, and music. Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and safely storing all band assets.
  • Compliance and Policies: Ensure the program and all extracurricular activities comply with federal and state laws, school policies, and the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Booster Club and Recruitment: Support the Band Booster Club activities and actively recruit and retain students to sustain and grow the program.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of music theory, including advanced concepts such as trigonometry applied to sound waves, geometry for stage design, and calculus for acoustics analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills for public speaking, teaching diverse learners, and coordinating with parents and staff.
  • Proven experience in curriculum development tailored to various age groups and skill levels.
  • Expertise in classroom management techniques that promote respectful behavior and active engagement among students.
  • Familiarity with standardized testing preparation related to music assessments or arts education standards.
  • Experience mentoring students in both musical performance and personal development activities.
  • Proficiency in proofreading, copy editing, and adhering to style guides such as the Chicago Manual of Style or AP style for program documentation.
  • Knowledge of learning technology platforms used for lesson planning, virtual rehearsals, or remote instruction.
  • Background in sports coaching or physical education is advantageous for integrating movement into musical activities.
  • Experience working within private or public school settings, including special education accommodations or Montessori-style programs.
  • Skills in library services or resource management to support music literacy education initiatives.

Director of Development

Full Time – Exempt Position

 

Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes major gifts, corporate, foundation, planned giving, and special events.
  • Donor Relations: Cultivate and manage relationships with key alumni donors, sponsors, and stakeholders to secure ongoing financial support.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage fundraising committees, providing guidance, training and support to meet fundraising goals.
  • Event Management: Organize and oversee fundraising and alumni events and other campaigns to engage alumni and donors.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Principal and the Board of Trustees to align fundraising strategies with the organization’s mission and values.
  • Data Analysis: Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Educate, Energize and Train: Staff, board members, and volunteers in donor cultivation, professional fundraising techniques and leading practices.
  • Identify and Implement: New impactful revenue streams, with a focus on increasing sustainable unrestricted revenue.
  • Partner with Finance Staff: To sustain efficient, effective, and transparent financial tracking and reporting processes.
  • Guide and Consult: Teach school personnel the benefits of alumni relations. Create and promote activities designed to ensure alumni are engaged and contacted for further giving and connection.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Experience (minimum 5 years) operating an annual giving program to include personally soliciting funds and motivating others to solicit funds.
  • Leadership experience representing an organization to external audiences and developing successful partnerships.
  • Demonstrated fundraising success with individuals, corporations and organizations.
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to personally cultivate, secure, administer, and steward significant major gifts.
  • Experience in providing strategic direction, leadership, and operational management of a development program.
  • Experience organizing, directing, motivating, and evaluating other professionals, support staff, and volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and the corresponding analytical skills needed to establish strategic fundraising goals and report on results.
  • Ability to exercise leadership skills while engaging in collaborative, team-based work; high capacity to inspire cooperation and work well with teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion; culturally competent in addressing complex issues.
  • High level of integrity, initiative, creativity, and energy.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends and evenings as required
  • Other: Perform all other duties and attend all other events and activities as instructed by the building principal.
