Community Service
Faith in Action
Putting our Faith into action is one of the most important aspects of being a Catholic. Service hours at Bishop Ludden-Grimes are more than just a requirement; they are a vital expression of your child’s Catholic faith. These service opportunities allow our students to embody core Catholic values of love, compassion, and selflessness, while putting their faith into practice. Through acts of service, students develop empathy, compassion, and responsibility, forging a strong sense of community within our school and beyond. Service experiences also prepare our students for a life of giving back to others, and they serve as a powerful witness to the values of our faith, both within and beyond our school community. We encourage your active support in fostering your child’s commitment to service, as it is a fundamental aspect of their Catholic education.
Below are the hour requirements for each grade level. Grades 7 and 8 record their service hours in their Theology class. Grades 9-12 log their service hours using this form: 2025-2026 Service Hours Log

Below is a list of expectations as well as answers to frequently asked questions about service:
1. Service hours need to be completed from at least 2 different organizations (they can’t do all of their service in one place)
2. Pet care organizations (Helping Hounds, Cat Coalition, etc.) can fulfill ONE of the requirements but the other(s) must directly/indirectly benefit people in need.
3. Service hours for grades 9-12 will be recorded through the Google Form: 2025-2026 Service Hours Log. Grades 7 & 8 record their service hours through Ms. Kolinski.
4. Service hours will be woven into the Theology curriculum and will be worth a portion of each student’s Theology grade.
5. Theology teachers, Mr. Vantassel, Mrs. Kulak, Sister Chris, and Mrs. Zallo, will monitor and approve the service hours throughout the school year.
6. Students who attend Bishop Ludden-Grimes for a total 6 years will accumulate at the very least 120 hours of service by their senior year. Students with 300+ hours by graduation will receive the white “service cord” at graduation.
